Varlion padel rackets

Varlion is a Spanish padel brand with a clear specialisation: high-level performance rackets built for players who demand exceptional technical quality and, critically, protection for their joints. The brand is handcrafted in Spain and is known for a number of patented technologies that genuinely set it apart from most other padel brands. The most important of these is the Elbowcare system, a vibration-absorbing structure built directly into the racket frame that reduces the load transferred to the elbow and wrist with every shot.

Varlion is not the most visible brand in the padel world, but among players who have played with their rackets, the brand has a strong following precisely because of what it delivers where it matters most: feel, durability and arm comfort over long sessions. At PadelShop.com you will find a curated selection of Varlion 2026 rackets from the premium REGA line and the more accessible Carbon Ti and 8.8 models.

The Varlion padel racket lines explained

Bourne — diamond shape for power-focused players

Bourne is the power line within Varlion. These rackets use a diamond shape and high balance, which concentrates weight toward the top of the frame for maximum striking power on smashes, overheads and attacking volleys. Within the Bourne family, the CUBE Elbowcare models represent the premium REGA tier, combining the Carbon Cube face, Prisma frame, Difusor Wings and Elbowcare system into one of the most technically advanced rackets in the range.

S and W versions: Varlion produces two core versions within the Elbowcare line. The S version (Summer) uses a very hard core optimised for temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius, maintaining responsiveness and structure in warm playing conditions. The W version (Winter) uses a hard core optimised for temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius, staying reactive and controlled in cooler conditions. Choosing the right version for your typical playing environment makes a meaningful difference in how the racket feels on court.

Important: the diamond shape and high balance of the Bourne line place significant rotational load on the elbow and wrist with every shot. The Elbowcare system genuinely reduces this load compared to conventional diamond rackets, but the Bourne is still best suited to technically confident players who generate consistent power. If you have a history of elbow or wrist problems, consider the LW or Maxima before stepping into the Bourne.

Available in: Varlion Bourne CUBE Elbowcare S 2026, Varlion Bourne CUBE Elbowcare W 2026, Varlion Bourne Carbon Platinum 2026, Varlion Bourne Prisma Carbon Soft 2026, Varlion Bourne Carbon Ti 2026, Varlion Bourne 8.8 2026.

LW — round shape, control and long handle

LW is the control line within Varlion. These rackets use a round shape and a low balance point, which gives a wide sweet spot covering almost the entire face and a highly manoeuvrable, arm-friendly feel. The LW also features the Summum handle, an extended handle design that gives players more leverage for defensive shots, lobs and defensive blocks without sacrificing manoeuvrability at the net.

The LW CUBE Elbowcare models are the premium tier of the family, combining the Elbowcare vibration system with the Carbon Cube face and Prisma frame for a control-oriented racket with exceptional joint protection. The LW Carbon Goldblack, Black Orquidea and Summum models offer accessible alternatives within the same control character.

Available in: Varlion LW Cube Elbowcare S 2026, Varlion LW Cube Elbowcare W 2026, Varlion LW Carbon 3 Summum 2026, Varlion LW Carbon Goldblack 2026, Varlion LW Carbon Black Orquidea 2026, Varlion LW Rose Carbon Ti 2026, Varlion LW 8.8 Orquidea 2026, Varlion LW 8.8 2026.

Maxima — teardrop shape for all-round precision

Maxima is the all-round line within Varlion. These rackets use a teardrop shape and medium balance, which combines control in defence with power on attacking shots. The sweet spot sits mid-high in the face, making Maxima models well suited to players who want to build points strategically and finish with decisive shots.

The Maxima CUBE Elbowcare S and W are the premium models in the family. The Maxima Carbon Rose and Maxima Prisma Carbon Soft offer accessible alternatives for players who want the teardrop character without the full premium investment.

Available in: Varlion Maxima Cube Elbowcare S 2026, Varlion Maxima Cube Elbowcare W 2026, Varlion Maxima Carbon Rose 2026, Varlion Maxima Prisma Carbon Soft 2026, Varlion Maxima Prisma Orquidea 2026.

The Varlion REGA line and patented technologies

The REGA line is Varlion's most advanced tier and is where the Cube Elbowcare models sit. REGA stands for the collection of premium Varlion technologies that distinguish these rackets from standard padel rackets. Understanding what each technology does helps you evaluate whether a REGA racket is right for your game.

Elbowcare system: a vibration-absorbing structure built directly into the frame around the entire perimeter of the racket. It reduces the vibration transferred to the elbow and wrist at the moment of impact. This is the most significant injury-prevention technology in the Varlion range and the primary reason many players choose Varlion over competing brands.

  • Carbon Cube face: exclusive 3D carbon fibre construction on the face of the racket that increases rigidity, stability and consistency of feel across different areas of the hitting surface. The Cube surface also has a rough Slice texture that enhances spin generation.
  • Prisma frame: Varlion's patented aerodynamic frame design that reduces air resistance by approximately 10 percent compared to conventional frame shapes. This translates to faster swing speed and more manoeuvrability, particularly noticeable on quick transitions at the net and defensive recoveries.
  • Difusor Wings: patented diffuser channels in the frame, inspired by Formula 1 aerodynamics, that improve airflow through and around the frame during the swing. This further increases manoeuvrability and reduces vibration.
  • Summum handle: an extended handle design present in several LW models that gives players more leverage on defensive shots, lobs and blocks. This is especially relevant for players who favour baseline play and want more reach without sacrificing balance.
  • S and W versions: the core hardness of the Elbowcare models is calibrated for different temperature ranges. The S version is optimised for use above 25 degrees Celsius. The W version is optimised for use below 25 degrees Celsius. In the Netherlands, the W version is the most practical choice for most of the year. Players who primarily play indoors in heated facilities may also prefer the S version.

Sweet spot, shape and what it means for your game

The shape of a padel racket determines where the sweet spot sits and how the racket behaves in different game situations. This matters for every player, regardless of level. Playing style, position on court and technique are more decisive than your ranking.

  • Round racket: the sweet spot covers almost the entire face. Very forgiving and consistent on shots at different heights. Round rackets are not only for beginners. The shape relates to playing style, not level. Many advanced players deliberately choose a round racket because it suits a control-oriented, patient style of play.
  • Teardrop racket: the sweet spot sits mid-high in the face. Combines control at lower heights with more power on higher, attacking shots. Well suited to all-round players who want both precision and punch.
  • Hybrid racket: the hybrid shape combines elements of the teardrop and diamond. The sweet spot sits slightly higher than on a teardrop, but is larger than on a diamond. Versatile for players who want power and control without committing fully to one direction. The hybrid shape generally requires at least an intermediate level of technique.
  • Diamond racket: the sweet spot sits high in the face and is smaller. Maximum striking power on smashes and high volleys, but requires consistent technique to hit the sweet spot reliably. Diamond rackets are suited to advanced and professional players.

Weight, balance and injury prevention

Varlion's focus on elbow and wrist protection is more deliberate and technically developed than most padel brands. The Elbowcare system, Prisma frame and Difusor Wings together create a playing experience that meaningfully reduces arm load compared to conventional rackets of similar shape and balance. For players with a history of padel-related arm injuries, Varlion is one of the brands we most actively recommend at our Padel Experience Center.

Women generally play best with rackets between 340 and 360 grams. The LW Elbowcare and LW Carbon models are the most natural choices because of their round shape, low balance and arm-friendly construction.

Men at recreational level are generally well served by 355 to 370 grams. The Maxima range and the accessible Bourne Ti or 8.8 models are strong starting points. Men who play more competitively and want attacking power can consider the Bourne Carbon Platinum or CUBE Elbowcare.

The diamond-shaped Bourne models still place more rotational load on the arm than the round or teardrop alternatives, even with the Elbowcare system. If you are in recovery from an elbow injury, start with an LW model and work toward the Bourne only when your arm is fully recovered and your technique can support it.

Frequently asked questions about Varlion padel rackets

What is the Varlion Elbowcare system?

The Elbowcare system is a vibration-absorbing structure that Varlion integrates into the frame of their premium REGA rackets. It wraps around the perimeter of the frame and absorbs vibrations at the moment of impact before they can travel up the shaft and into the player's arm. The result is a measurable reduction in the load on the elbow and wrist compared to conventional padel rackets of similar shape and balance. It is one of the most specifically developed injury-prevention technologies currently available in padel rackets.

What is the difference between Varlion S and W versions?

S stands for Summer and W stands for Winter. The S version uses a very hard core that is optimised to maintain responsiveness and structure when the temperature is above 25 degrees Celsius. The W version uses a hard core that stays reactive and controlled in cooler playing conditions below 25 degrees Celsius. In the Netherlands, most players benefit from the W version for outdoor play in spring, autumn and winter, and may prefer the S for summer outdoor play or year-round indoor play in warm facilities.

What is the difference between the Bourne, LW and Maxima?

Bourne is the power line with a diamond shape and high balance for maximum attacking power. LW is the control line with a round shape and low balance for precise, arm-friendly play with a long handle for extra leverage. Maxima is the all-round line with a teardrop shape and medium balance for players who want strategic point construction combined with finishing capability. The three lines cover different playing philosophies rather than just different levels.

Are Varlion rackets suitable for players with elbow pain?

Yes, more so than most padel brands. The Elbowcare system is specifically developed to reduce the vibration load on the elbow and wrist. For players who currently have elbow pain, we recommend starting with an LW model because of its round shape and low balance, which minimises rotational load. The Maxima is a good next step when the arm is recovered. We strongly recommend testing before buying, especially if you have an active injury.

What does the Varlion Prisma frame do?

The Prisma frame is Varlion's patented aerodynamic frame shape. It reduces air resistance by approximately 10 percent compared to conventional padel frame shapes, which translates to faster swing speed and more manoeuvrability. Players notice this most on quick transitions at the net, defensive recoveries and on faster rallies where time to prepare is limited.

Can I test a Varlion racket before buying?
