Padel is growing fast in popularity worldwide. But if you're new to the sport, the padel scoring system might be a bit confusing at first. Don’t worry, it’s very similar to tennis, with just a few unique twists. In this blog, we break it down so you’ll never lose track again.

Point Scoring in padel

Points in padel follow the same structure as tennis:

  • 0 = “Love”
  • 1 point = “15”
  • 2 points = “30”
  • 3 points = “40”
  • 4 points = Game (must win by 2)

If both teams reach 40, it’s called “deuce.” From there, a team must win two consecutive points to win the game: first "advantage," then game.

Games and sets

A typical match is best of 3 sets. To win a set, a team must win 6 games with a 2-game lead. At 6-6, a tiebreak is played to 7 points (again, win by 2).

Why scoring gets forgotten

Fast rallies and intense focus on the ball can lead to lost track of the score, especially in casual games. Players often try to remember the score verbally, but mistakes are common.

Tip: Use a padel scoreboard

Want to avoid all scoring confusion? Use a padel scoreboard like the Scoring Right Scoreboard.

It attaches directly to your racket and lets you easily keep track of points, games, and sets, without disrupting your swing. Ultra-light, ITF-approved, and trusted by players of all levels.
