First, how do arm injuries develop in padel?
Padel elbow (lateral epicondylitis) and wrist pain are the most common injuries among padel players, and the numbers are climbing alongside the sport's growth in the Netherlands. That makes sense: if you were one of the 876,000 padel players in the Netherlands in 2025 and you played at least twice a week, the strain on your elbow and wrist accumulates fast.
The core of the problem is vibration transfer. Every time the ball hits your racket, a shockwave is generated. A clean hit in the sweet spot delivers a short, contained vibration. An off-centre hit, an overly heavy ball or a flawed swing technique generates a much larger shock that travels from the racket through the grip into your wrist, elbow and ultimately your shoulder.

"A heavier racket means more vibration, so it's worse for my arm." Not quite. A heavier racket actually dampens vibration more than a light one, because the mass absorbs the shockwave. The problem isn't absolute weight — it's too much weight in the head (high balance). A 370-gram racket with low balance can be friendlier to your arm than a 350-gram racket with high balance.
"Padel elbow comes from a weak swing." Sometimes, but far more often it comes from squeezing too hard into a too-stiff grip which is technically still a symptom of the wrong material, not bad technique. A better grip solves half the problem without you needing a single coaching session.
"My racket is fine, I just need to play through it until it goes away." Almost never good advice. Padel elbow that you don't address evolves from annoying to chronic in months. The racket is a direct contributing cause in around 80% of cases. If your arm is nagging you, it's time to look critically at your equipment before you develop structural damage.

Is an 18K Nox racket always bad for my arm? Not always, but for players with complaints, 18K is rarely the best choice. The stiffer face transfers vibration more directly than 12K or fibreglass-alum. If you have no complaints and play with consistent technique, 18K is fine — but as soon as complaints appear, choose 12K, fibreglass-alum or a Lite version deliberately. Why do you list the AT10 Pro Cup Soft and AT10 Luxury Genius Lite as round when Nox calls them teardrop? Because we measured them ourselves. In our Padel Experience Center we use professional measurement equipment (one of only five units in Europe) to objectively assess the actual sweet spot position, swing weight and balance of every racket in our range. For these two specific 2026 models, the on-court behaviour matches a round racket far more closely than a teardrop, regardless of how Nox classifies them. How do I know if my complaints come from my racket? Three simple signals: pain that specifically appears after padel and not during other movements, pain that worsens with the same level of play (while your technique hasn't changed), and sweaty hands that force you to squeeze hard during sessions. What do 12K and 18K actually mean?
The "K" in 12K and 18K stands for the number of filaments per carbon tow used to weave the racket face, expressed in thousands. 12K means each carbon tow contains 12,000 individual fibres. With 18K, that's 18,000 per tow.
The more filaments per tow, the finer and tighter the weave, and the stiffer the resulting surface. That has direct consequences for how the racket responds when the ball hits the face.
One thing to flag up front: the number on its own says nothing about quality. An 18K isn't automatically better than a 12K, just like a thicker string in a tennis racket isn't automatically better than a thinner one. They're two different choices for two different playing styles.
How does Nox 12K carbon feel on court?
A 12K face gives you a slightly softer, more forgiving feel on the ball. Not soft like fibreglass, but less dry and rigid than 18K. With Nox, you'll notice this most in:
More dampening on off-centre hits. Miss the sweet spot slightly and it doesn't feel as harsh as it would with 18K. The ball stays on the face a fraction longer, giving you more time to direct it.
A bit more comfort over long sessions. Vibrations transfer less directly, which is welcome if you have a sensitive elbow or wrist or play extended rallies.
A friendlier learning curve. For players still working on consistent contact, 12K leaves more room for error without punishing your arm.

The result is a finer, more uniform surface that's stiffer than earlier 12K versions. How does Nox 18K carbon feel on court?
An 18K face feels stiffer, drier and more direct. There's less buffer between you and the ball: what you do, happens immediately. With Nox, you'll notice this most in:
A harder, snappier response. The ball comes off the face faster and more aggressively. On clean smashes and high volleys, this feels brilliant.
Less forgiveness on non-central hits. Miss the sweet spot and you'll know about it. The racket asks for consistent technique.

In Alphen aan den Rijn, we regularly meet customers who are convinced they want 18K because it's supposedly the "better" or "more professional" material. That's a misconception we want to address honestly.
In practice, 12K suits the vast majority of recreational and advanced players better. Not because 12K is easier, but because most players don't yet have the technical consistency and swing speed needed to truly exploit 18K. With 18K, every off-centre hit feels harsh in the hand, and those add up across hundreds of shots in a session.
We mainly recommend 18K to players who train multiple times a week, have an aggressive playing style and already have experience with stiff diamond models. For everyone else, 12K Alum Xtrem is actually the smarter choice in 2026, because the Alum Xtrem evolution has narrowed the stiffness gap with 18K without giving up the comfort advantage.

Beginners and intermediate players develop faster with a 12K — or better still, with a softer entry-level racket like an Equation or Pro Cup.
What's the difference between 12K, 18K and 3K at Nox? 3K is a less densely woven carbon with a softer feel, used in models like the ML10 Ventus Control 3K 2026 by Miguel Lamperti. 12K sits in the middle of the spectrum (premium, all-round). 18K is the densest and stiffest material in the main range. The higher the number, the stiffer and more direct the feel, and the more technique the racket asks of you.
Do 12K and 18K feel different across other padel brands too? Yes, but every brand processes the material differently. An 18K from Bullpadel doesn't feel identical to an 18K from Nox or Adidas, because the core, the mould and the finish all shape how the carbon behaves.
