The Oxdog Ultimate Pro Light 2027 lands as the lightweight attacking racket in Oxdog's new generation. We received the first units at PadelShop.com and measured one on our Wilson Baiardo Tune Pro. Here is what you can expect from the racket, who it suits, and what makes it a notable release in the 2027 line-up.
Oxdog has built a reputation for diamond-shaped attacking rackets that stay accessible in the hand, and the Ultimate Pro Light 2027 takes that philosophy a step further. Diamond geometry with a lightweight build, a hard EVA Medium+ core, and an HES Carbon 8K face with a rough carbon surface. The result is an attacking racket that behaves like a lighter all-round racket in the swing, which is an unusual combination in this segment.
What is new in the 2027 version
The headline update for the 2027 generation is the RBS (Racket Balance System). A 6-gram stainless steel counterweight sits in the handle and can be added or removed without tools, letting you tune the balance of the racket between a lighter maneuverable setup and a more head-heavy attacking setup. If you want more mass behind the smash, add the weight. If you want the fastest swing at the net, leave it off. You decide the character.
Beyond the RBS system, Oxdog has refined the face construction with HES Carbon 8K. The 8K carbon weave gives a stiff direct response on impact while the rough carbon surface finish adds grip on the ball for spin on bandeja and vibora. Combined with the EVA Medium+ core, this delivers a firm feel that favors power on attacking shots.
Our measurement
Oxdog Ultimate Pro Light 2027
HARDNESS 66 / 75
softhard
Hard. The EVA Medium+ core returns the ball firmly on impact for a direct response and plenty of ball speed on power shots, while still being manageable on the arm for an advanced player.

SWINGWEIGHT 150 / 185

Very maneuverable. Unusually low for a diamond. Most diamonds sit above 160 for leverage on the smash. Oxdog has gone the other way: lighter build, lower swingweight, faster reaction at the net. Add the 6-gram RBS weight to shift the swingweight up.

Who the Ultimate Pro Light 2027 is for
This racket suits advanced attacking players who want the sweet spot of a diamond for finishing points from above, but who also play fast net exchanges and prefer a racket that moves quickly with the hand. Right-side players and net specialists will recognise the character immediately: diamond geometry, hard core, direct response, but without the heavy swingweight that usually comes with that package.
It also suits players who want to grow into an attacking racket without the physical demands of a pure heavy diamond. The lower swingweight reduces arm fatigue during long sessions, and the RBS system lets you build up the head weight gradually as your technique and strength develop.
Less suited to players who prioritise control, comfort, or who have a sensitive elbow. The hard core (66 on our scale) puts more load on the arm than a round softer racket does. Also less suited to players who want maximum leverage on the smash from a heavy diamond. For pure power, a diamond with a swingweight above 160 is a better fit.

How it fits into the rest of the Oxdog line
Oxdog's 2027 line-up centres on the Ultimate Pro family. The standard Ultimate Pro 2027 carries a higher swingweight and more mass towards the head, which gives it the more classic attacking feel. The Ultimate Pro Light 2027 strips the weight back to the maneuverable band while keeping the diamond shape, which makes it the faster more reactive version in the family. If you played a previous Ultimate Pro Light, the 2027 adds the RBS adjustable weight system which was not available on earlier generations.

AgustÃn Tapia's all-round signature racket returns for 2027 with a new multilayered core, a lighter balance in the swing, and the same 12K Alum Xtrem aluminized carbon face. We measured both models at PadelShop.com on our Wilson Baiardo Tune Pro.
On the spec sheet the NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 and the 2026 share almost everything: the same 12K Alum Xtrem aluminized carbon face with 50% less fibre waviness than standard 12K, the same Dual Spin surface with silica sand finish, the same Weight Balance system in the handle, the same Tapia signature. What has changed sits on the inside: a new MLD Black EVA core instead of the HR3 Black EVA of the 2026, paired with a refined weight distribution. Our measurement on the Wilson Baiardo Tune Pro shows exactly how that translates to feel on court.
How we measure
Every NOX racket that enters PadelShop.com is measured on our Wilson Baiardo Tune Pro before it leaves the shop. That gives us two objective numbers per racket instead of the marketing language brands use themselves. Together with the balance and the total weight, these two numbers are the knobs that decide how attacking or defensive a racket feels. The shape of the racket decides where the sweet spot sits on the face, not how aggressive the racket is.
Hardness (our scale 50 to 75)
How stiff the core feels on impact. Softer cores let the ball sink deeper into the face for more control and comfort, harder cores push the ball back faster for more power and a more direct response.
Swingweight (our scale 140 to 185)
How heavy the racket feels while you are swinging it. A lower swingweight makes the racket faster in the swing and more defensive in character because you can react quickly. A higher swingweight makes the racket more attacking because there is more mass behind every shot.

What you feel in the first swing
NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2026
Firm and planted. The HR3 Black EVA core returns the ball with a solid consistent response and the higher swingweight puts more mass behind each shot, which gives a confident feel on the smash and the vibora. The classic all-round Genius character with a touch more attacking bite.
NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027
Snappy and light in the head. The new MLD Black EVA multilayered core softens the response on impact, the ball sinks a fraction deeper into the face, and the lower swingweight makes the racket want to move with your hand. One of the fastest and most comfortable rackets in the Luxury Series.
What has stayed the same
Before we go into what has evolved, everything below is identical on both models. This is why the Genius line stays recognisable from one season to the next.
Shape: teardrop
Weight range: 360 to 375 grams
Thickness: 38 mm
Face: 12K Alum Xtrem aluminized carbon fibre with 50% less fibre waviness than standard 12K
Surface: Dual Spin (3D texture with silica sand finish)
Weight Balance system: interchangeable 2 gram and 4 gram counterweights up to 8 grams total, adjustable without tools
EOS Tunnel: lateral perforations for airflow through the head
Oversize Grip: 30 mm extended handle for two-handed backhands
Signature player: AgustÃn Tapia
The 12K Alum Xtrem aluminized carbon face is worth highlighting on its own. The aluminium finish keeps the carbon stiff and consistent across temperature changes, so cold winter mornings and warm summer afternoons give you the same feel on the ball. For players who spend a lot of time on outdoor courts, that temperature stability is one of the main reasons to choose a NOX aluminized carbon face over a standard carbon face.
Where the NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 has evolved
This generation brings a real material change, not just a rebalanced head. The 2026 was built around the HR3 Black EVA core, a high-density multilayered foam with strong memory effect that NOX positioned as "intermediate-hard" in feel. For 2027 NOX has replaced that core with the new MLD Black EVA, a multilayered EVA with variable density across the layers. Our measurement picks up the shift: hardness drops from 62 to 60 on our scale, which is the move from the soft band into the very soft band. The ball sits a fraction longer on the face, dampening is better, and the arm feels fresher after long matches.
On top of the new core, NOX has refined the internal weight distribution. The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 carries the same total weight range as the 2026 but the balance point sits closer to the handle, which is what our Wilson Baiardo picks up as a lower swingweight. In practice that means a more defensive-oriented character out of the box: faster at the net, easier to react with on volleys and quick exchanges. The Weight Balance system rewards this evolution: add up to 8 grams through the counterweight slot in the handle and you shift the character back towards a more attacking feel, or leave it off for the lightest and most reactive setup.
How they play on court
At the net
The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 shines in reactive exchanges. The lower swingweight gives you more time between shots, which pays off on quick blocks, defensive volleys, double vibora rallies and switches between defence and attack. The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2026 responds with its own strength: when a ball sits up for you, the extra mass behind the shot turns that volley into a heavier ball for your opponent.
On the smash
The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2026 carries the natural advantage here through more mass behind the shot and a firmer core. The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 still finishes points well and rewards a full technical swing, and thanks to the Weight Balance system you can add up to 8 grams of head weight yourself to bring more mass into the smash while keeping the base racket faster in the swing.
On vibora and bandeja
The Dual Spin surface is unchanged so the grip on the ball is identical on both models. The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 generates spin through faster head acceleration thanks to the lower swingweight. The softer MLD Black EVA core gives you a fraction more dwell time on the ball for a cleaner spin bite.
From the back of the court
Both rackets defend comfortably. The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 asks less of the wrist on recovery swings under pressure thanks to the softer core and lower swingweight, which pays off in the third set when your arm starts to feel the match. The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2026 feels more planted when you have time to load a big defensive shot.
Comfort through long sessions
This is the biggest practical shift between the two generations. The Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 is noticeably friendlier for players who feel padel elbow starting or who play multiple matches per week. The new MLD Black EVA core absorbs impact better than the firmer HR3 Black EVA, and the lower swingweight reduces the load on the wrist and elbow on every swing. This is one of the strongest reasons the 2027 has become the recommended choice for players stepping up into the Genius line.
Test both rackets at our Padel Experience Center
Both rackets are available to test on court at our Padel Experience Center in Alphen aan den Rijn for 29,95 euros per half hour. You hit real balls with both models, get personal advice based on your game and playing style, and walk in confident about which racket suits you before you buy.
Our recommendation
For the vast majority of players stepping into the Genius line today, the NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2027 is the racket to go for. The new MLD Black EVA core is softer and more comfortable than the HR3 Black EVA of the 2026, the balance sits closer to the handle for a faster more defensive-friendly swing, and the Weight Balance system still lets you dial in head weight if you want more attacking punch on the smash. You get the flexibility of two characters in one racket plus the latest core technology in the NOX Luxury Series.
The NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem 2026 remains a strong alternative for players who specifically prefer the firmer HR3 Black EVA response and the extra mass behind their shots. If you already play the 2026 and love it, there is no reason to change. If you are choosing between them for the first time, the 2027 is our recommendation.

What you feel in the first swing
NOX Genius 18K Alum 2026
Solid and planted. You feel the mass in the head from the first pick-up, which rewards a full technical swing and makes the racket punch through the ball on the smash. The classic professional Genius feel that has defined Tapia's line.
NOX Genius 18K Alum 2027
Snappy and light in the head. The racket wants to move with your hand, quick to whip through vibora and bandeja, and it stays fresh through long sessions. The Genius DNA is unmistakable, the response just arrives a fraction earlier.

Before we go into what has evolved, everything below is identical on both models. This is why the Genius line stays recognisable from one season to the next.
Shape: teardrop with the same mould geometry
Weight range: 360 to 375 grams

Where the NOX Genius 18K Alum 2027 has evolved
NOX has kept the materials of the Genius identical and refined the internal weight distribution. The Genius 18K Alum 2027 carries the same total weight range as the 2026 but the balance point sits closer to the handle, which is what our Wilson Baiardo picks up as a more maneuverable swingweight. In practice that means a quicker racket at the net without giving up the premium 18K carbon feel through the ball.
The Weight Balance system rewards this evolution: if you want the Genius 18K Alum 2027 to sit a touch more head-heavy, add up to 8 grams through the counterweight slot in the handle and you shift the character back towards the planted feel. You tune the racket to your own game.
How they play on court
At the net
The Genius 18K Alum 2027 shines in reactive exchanges. Quick blocks, defensive volleys, double vibora rallies and switches between defence and attack all feel a fraction earlier. The Genius 18K Alum 2026 responds with its own strength: when a ball sits up for you at the net, its mass turns that volley into a heavier ball for your opponent.
On the smash
The Genius 18K Alum 2026 carries the natural leverage advantage here through more head weight. The Genius 18K Alum 2027 still finishes points well and rewards a full technical swing, and thanks to the Weight Balance system you can add up to 8 grams of head weight yourself to bring more mass into the smash while keeping the base racket faster in the swing.
On vibora and bandeja
The Dual Spin surface is unchanged so the grip on the ball is identical on both models. The Genius 18K Alum 2027 generates spin through faster head acceleration, which is where most modern players build their attacking rhythm from the top of the face.
From the back of the court
Both rackets defend comfortably thanks to the MLD Black EVA core absorbing energy the same way on both. The Genius 18K Alum 2027 asks a little less of the wrist on recovery swings under pressure, which pays off in the third set when your arm starts to feel the match.
Comfort through long sessions
The Genius 18K Alum 2027 is the friendlier option for players who feel padel elbow starting or who play multiple matches per week. The lower swingweight and slightly softer core work together to reduce load on the wrist and elbow. This is one of the strongest reasons the 2027 has become the recommended choice for players stepping up into the Genius line.

Both rackets are available to test on court at our Padel Experience Center in Alphen aan den Rijn for 29,95 euros per half hour. You hit real balls with both models, get personal advice based on your game and playing style, and walk in confident about which racket suits you before you buy.
Our recommendation
For the vast majority of players stepping into the Genius line today, the NOX Genius 18K Alum 2027 is the racket to go for. The refined balance makes it faster at the net, easier on the arm and more forgiving during long sessions, without losing the premium 18K carbon feel that defines Tapia's signature line. The Weight Balance system lets you dial in head weight yourself if you want more punch on the smash, so you get the flexibility of two characters in one racket.
The NOX Genius 18K Alum 2026 remains a strong alternative for players who specifically want the classic planted head-heavy Genius feel and generate their power through mass rather than head speed. If you already play the 2026 and love it, there is no reason to change. If you are choosing between them for the first time, the 2027 is our recommendation.

First-hand analysis based on our own measurements. Every racket in the NOX 2027 collection has been tested on our Wilson Baiardo Tune Pro at PadelShop.com and paired with real players in our Padel Experience Center.
The NOX 2027 collection is here and it is one of the most technically ambitious releases NOX has ever made. Seventeen rackets, five families, three completely new technologies and a shift towards materials that make the game more comfortable without giving up power. This article is the full guide: what is new, how the rackets compare and which one fits which player, based on numbers we measured ourselves and hours of court time with the range.
How to read our measurements: hardness and swingweight in plain language
Before we walk through the collection, two numbers to know. Every racket page on our site shows the hardness and the swingweight we measured for that specific racket on our Wilson Baiardo Tune Pro. This is a laboratory tool that measures how a padel racket actually behaves, so we can compare them on equal terms. Manufacturers describe their rackets in words like "medium-hard" or "soft feel" but those descriptions differ per brand. Our numbers are objective.
Hardness (our scale: 50 to 75)
How stiff the core of the racket feels on impact. A soft racket lets the ball sink deeper into the face which gives more control and comfort. A hard racket pushes the ball back faster which gives more power and a direct feel.
50-54: extremely soft
55-60: very soft
61-63: soft
64-66: hard
67-70: very hard
70+: extremely hard
The NOX 2027 range measures between 60 and 65 on our scale, which puts the whole collection in the soft-to-hard segment. NOX has moved the range towards more arm comfort this year without giving up response.
Swingweight (our scale: 140 to 185)
How heavy the racket feels while you are swinging it. Two rackets can weigh the same on a kitchen scale but feel completely different on court because of where that weight sits. A low swingweight makes the racket fast in the swing and easy to react with at the net. A high swingweight makes the racket feel heavier in the head, which gives more leverage on the smash but demands more from the arm.
Below 160: maneuverable
161-170: neutral
171 and higher: stiff
The NOX 2027 range measures between 143 and 165 on our scale. Only the Genius Attack 12K Xtrem reaches into the neutral segment, the rest of the collection stays in the maneuverable range.
What is new in the NOX 2027 collection
Four technologies stand out this year. If you owned a NOX racket from an earlier season, this is what has changed.
12K Alum Xtrem carbon fibre: a new carbon weaving pattern that reduces fibre waviness by 50% compared to standard 12K. The face responds more uniformly across the whole hitting surface, which means fewer dead spots and a more consistent feel from shot to shot.
MLD Black EVA (multilayered core): the core is now built from multiple layers of EVA rubber with different densities. On slower defensive shots the softer outer layers give the ball extra dwell time for control. On hard shots the denser inner layers respond firmer for maximum ball speed. The core adapts to how you play.
VCS (Vibration Control System): a redesigned elastomer inside the handle. NOX claims a 60% reduction in vibration transfer compared to their previous generation. On court this means less shock through the wrist and elbow, especially on shots hit off-centre. This is the technology behind the range-wide push towards arm comfort.
Weight Balance system: already introduced last year but expanded across the whole Luxury Series. Interchangeable 2-gram and 4-gram counterweights sit in the handle and can be swapped without tools, up to 8 grams total. Add weight for a more head-heavy attacking feel or leave it off for maximum maneuverability. You tune the racket to your game.
Additional technologies that appear across the range include the Dual Spin surface (a 3D texture paired with a sandblasted finish, for extra grip on bandeja and vibora), the EOS Tunnel (lateral perforations in the frame that improve airflow through the head), the Pulse System (lateral rubber inserts that further reduce vibrations), Dynamic Composite Structure (DCS, the frame material extends into the face area to prevent surface cracking) and the Smart Strap (quick-release safety strap for easy cleaning). Every racket in the collection carries the Testea Padel certification from the Valencia Polytechnic University: an independent lab test for consistency, durability and structural strength.
The families in the collection
Luxury Series: Genius and Ventus (10 rackets)

Which NOX 2027 racket fits which player?
Advanced or professional attacking player who finishes points at the net
The three diamond-shaped rackets in the range: NOX Genius Attack 12K Alum Xtrem for pure power, NOX Genius Attack 18K Alum for a slightly softer more forgiving attacking feel, and NOX Ventus Attack 12K Xtrem if you want the oversize grip for two-handed backhands.

The teardrop Genius rackets: NOX Genius 18K Alum for a solid consistent feel and NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem for the newest carbon technology and lowest swingweight. Both are Tapia's signature rackets in the all-round segment.
Advanced player who values placement and control over power

Advanced player with a sensitive elbow
The whole range sits in the soft-to-medium hardness segment this year, but the softest options are the NOX Ventus Control 12K and the NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem (both at 60 on our scale). Combined with the lowest swingweights in the range, these are the most arm-friendly options. Also check our selection for padel elbow.

The NOX Equation Hard Advanced if you want to add power to your game, the NOX Equation Soft Advanced if comfort and control come first. Both are round-shaped with a medium balance that keeps handling accessible.

The NOX Genius 12K Alum Xtrem Lite: same teardrop shape, same Weight Balance system, same 12K Alum Xtrem face, but with a softer HR3 White core. The Genius geometry without the pro-level demands.
Frequently asked questions
Which NOX 2027 racket is best for me?That depends on your playing style, your level and how comfortable you want the racket on your arm. If you want personal advice, book a session at our Padel Experience Center in Alphen aan den Rijn where you can test the rackets on court.
What is the difference between the Luxury Series and the Classic Series? The Luxury Series (Genius and Ventus) is built with the newest 2027 technologies: 12K Alum Xtrem carbon, MLD Black EVA multilayered core, Weight Balance system. Aimed at players who want the latest feel and performance. The Classic Series (Pro Cup) is built around a legendary mould with the HR3 EVA core. Aimed at players who want the classic Pro Cup character: round shape, large sweetspot, firm feel.
Why are the NOX 2027 rackets softer than earlier years?NOX has moved the whole range towards more arm comfort this year with the new VCS system (60% less vibration transfer) and the multilayered MLD Black EVA core. The whole 2027 range measures between 60 and 65 on our hardness scale, which is soft to hard. Padel elbow is one of the most common injuries in the sport and NOX has clearly designed this collection with that in mind.
What is the Weight Balance system?A slot in the handle that holds interchangeable 2-gram and 4-gram counterweights, up to 8 grams total. You can swap them without tools. Add weight for a more head-heavy attacking feel on the smash. Leave it off for the lightest and most maneuverable setup. Available on every racket in the Luxury Series.
Does the Testea Padel certification really mean something?Yes. Testea Padel is an independent laboratory at the Valencia Polytechnic University (UPV) that runs standardised tests on consistency between units, durability under repeated impact and structural strength of the frame and faces. Every 2027 racket carries the certification, which means the racket you receive matches what NOX specifies.
Can I test a NOX 2027 racket before buying?Yes. At our Padel Experience Center in Alphen aan den Rijn you test on court for 29.95 euros per half hour. We advise based on your game, your level and your physical preferences.
