Padel bags

A padel bag is more than a convenient way to carry your gear. It is the protection of your racket from the conditions it is exposed to along the way. And those conditions are more extreme than most players realise.

Why a good padel bag is a necessity, not a luxury

EVA foam, the material that makes up the core of virtually every padel racket, is baked at around 50 degrees Celsius during production. That is precisely the temperature a car interior can reach on a warm summer day. The moment you leave your racket unprotected in a hot car, the foam is in the temperature range where it can permanently soften. The foam bounces back less well after each shot. The power of the racket drops. That process is irreversible.

At PadelShop.com we measure racket hardness with professional measuring equipment. We see the difference when customers come in with a racket that has spent the summer in a car. A racket that looks like new but plays differently than it should. The cause is always the same: heat.

In winter the reverse applies. Below five degrees Celsius, EVA becomes hard and brittle. A hard smash with a cold racket increases the risk of micro-cracks in the frame and core. And a sudden temperature change, from a cold car to a warm indoor court, puts stress on the materials in the same way glass can crack under rapid temperature shifts. Always let a cold racket warm up for at least 15 to 20 minutes before intensive play.

The thermal compartment: almost indispensable

The solution for both summer heat and winter cold is a bag with a thermally insulated racket compartment. The insulating layer in the bag acts as a buffer: it slows the warming in summer and the cooling in winter. It is not perfect protection, but the difference compared to a bag without a thermal compartment is significant enough to check for it with every purchase.

Store your racket ideally in a place with a stable temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. A thermal bag helps you achieve that, even if the bag does end up in the car briefly.

Racket bag or backpack?

  • Choose a racket bag if you carry multiple rackets, have a lot of accessories, are going to a match or travel by car. Racket bags have more capacity, better organisation and in most cases a larger thermal compartment.
  • Choose a backpack if you cycle, walk or use public transport to the court. Both hands free, weight well distributed across your back and compact enough for daily use. Be aware that not all backpacks have a thermal compartment. If you want to protect your racket properly, check this before buying.

Brands in our range

We carry padel bags from Adidas, Babolat, Black Crown, Bullpadel, Cork, Donnay, Dunlop, Head, J'Hayber, NOX, Oxdog, PadelShop, Slazenger, StarVie, Varlion, Volt and Wilson. Frequently asked questions

Why does a padel bag need a thermal compartment?

EVA foam, the core of your racket, is sensitive to extreme temperatures. Heat above 40 degrees Celsius can permanently soften the foam and cost you power. Cold makes it hard and brittle. A thermal compartment insulates the racket and slows those processes considerably.

Can I use a tennis bag for padel?

Technically yes, but the compartments are too wide for a padel racket which is smaller than a tennis racket. The racket shifts around and the protection is less effective. A padel-specific bag holds the racket securely in place.

How many rackets fit in a racket bag?

That varies considerably between models. From bags for 2 to 3 rackets to large tournament bags for 6 or more. Check the product page for the exact capacity of the model you are looking at.
